Delivery Rules
1. Shipping Costs
Transparency is essential: clearly state whether shipping is free, flat-rate, or calculated by weight/distance.
Offer free shipping thresholds (e.g., free delivery for orders above $50) to encourage larger purchases.
International orders should specify customs duties and taxes responsibility.
2. Delivery Times
Provide processing time (how long until the order leaves the warehouse) separately from shipping time.
State realistic delivery windows (e.g., 3–5 business days for standard shipping, 1–2 days for express).
Mention possible delays (holidays, strikes, weather).
3. Shipping Methods
List available options: standard, express, scheduled delivery, or pickup points.
Identify carriers used (e.g., DHL, FedEx, local courier).
Allow customers to choose their preferred method at checkout.
4. Order Tracking
Provide tracking numbers and links immediately after dispatch.
Customers should be able to monitor their shipment status online.
Tracking reduces “Where is my order?” inquiries and builds trust.
5. Damages, Losses & Returns
State clearly what happens if goods are lost or damaged in transit.
Define the Return Policy separately (e.g., defects must be reported within 24 hours of delivery).
Clarify who bears the return shipping cost.
6. Customer Communication
Send email/SMS notifications at each stage: order confirmation, dispatch, out-for-delivery, and delivered.
Provide customer support contact details for delivery issues.
